Nicole Maunz is an Austrian artist who works in the field of jewellery and performance. Her artistic activity is pervaded by questions about essential aspects of ‘being human’, which need to be explored spiritually, mentally and physically.
For her body objects, she combines materials such as textiles and metal, which could not be more different in their nature. The metal forms the basis, a framework on which the textile can continue to shape. The creation process is complex, the textile material is reworked, torn and sewn together again several times.
The work unfolds in the ’Private Session’. The worn objects become ritual tools and transformers at the same time. They open up a space and set processes in motion that have a transcending function.
The public performances demand a ‘silent’ admission. The recipient is invited to remove layer by layer or to expose what might be hidden in it, individually or collectively.
